With all new custom kiln builds, A.W. Siltes keeps customers involved in the process to ensure they get exactly what they need and want from a new kiln. On the repair side, A.W. Stiles offers kiln roof replacements, steam piping, new custom kiln heating coils, controls, parts, and scheduled maintenance.
One of their specialties in kiln repair is kiln reskins, which consists of removing all of the existing wall sheeting and insulation, repairing any structural damage, then installing all new wall sheeting and insulation. With older kilns, there may be some damaged areas in existing wall sheeting from everyday use, which can cause the insulation to act like a sponge with moisture in the kiln. Once the insulation becomes waterlogged over time it will start to sink in the panels and cause kiln efficiency to decrease and add hours to drying a kiln charge over the years.
