Despite COVID-19 travel and gathering restrictions, education and promotional efforts continued in July with a lumber training webinar targeting lumber traders and construction professionals in Costa Rica. This webinar was SFPA?s third educational event to follow the webinar format, after a successful series of webinars in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic in June.
Costa Rica shows strong potential for U.S. softwoods, yet export volumes have been tiny relative to other markets in the region mainly due to a lack of knowledge of U.S. softwoods. To remedy this knowledge gap, July’s lumber training webinar focused on technical aspects of proper selection and use of U.S. softwood lumber.
Exit surveys from the webinar’s 42 attendees indicate an interest in future training efforts in the area.
